Fuel Scarcity: Police Shot Man Dead Over Argument At Petrol Station In Lagos.

Tragedy struck at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at Obalende area of Lagos State on Wednesday when a police man shot a man due to fuel scarcity disagreement.

The police men allegedly shot the man identified as Toheeb Eniafe to death, during an argument related to the ongoing fuel scarcity in Nigeria.

We gathered from residents that Eniafe was in the queue to get petrol when the incident happened.

While in the queue, two Police men attempted to drive into the station to buy petrol even though they were not in the queue to get the product.

Which was met with stiff resistance from people in the queue, many of whom had been waiting for hours.

It was during the argument and scuffle that the deceased was shot dead. The killer fled the scene immediately.It

confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the shooter has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

However Hundeyin, didn’t give the name of the suspect. But promise to get justice to the deceased.

He said “Investigation is still ongoing and further findings will be made available. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is working with the family of the deceased to ensure that there is no miscarriage of justice.”
