In the mid hours of today, Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike hosted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the commissioning of the magistrate court in Rivers state.
While about to commission the project, Governor Nyesom Wike made a promise to the Chief judge saying, “it will be unfair for the Chief judge not to maintain this edifice after my term in office. This is why I will be giving you twenty million naira (N20m) in advance per month for a year to serve as maintenance fee.”
Speaking further, Governor Nyesom Wike said, “I will plead with my successor to give you this money. I will also come here one day for inspection and I don’t want a situation where I will meet it in a dilapidated state.”
Again, Governor Nyesom Wike said, “if I am here for inspection and see that the magistrate court is in a bad state, you will not like the way I will scandalize your name. I know people complain that there is no money but the little they get, the don’t manage it well.”
Lastly, Governor Nyesom Wike said, “as a chief judge, when you get a new successor, you hand the remaining money to him in order that he continues from where you stop. You should consider this property as yours.”
